Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Panasonic is pleased to introduce the new Lumix DMC-FX35, its first 10.1-megapixel camera with astonishing 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens and 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 25mm to 100mm on a 35mm film camera). Capturing almost double the viewing space at the same shooting distance compared to ordinary 35mm cameras, the DMC-FX35 records remarkable images with unprecedented width and depth. The new DMC-FX35 integrates 720p HD (high-definition) recording capabilities for capturing motion pictures alongside its primary function as a stills camera, allowing users to watch both still and motion images in impressive HD quality. The DMC-FX35 comprises a variety of additional shoot-assist functions on top of Panasonic's Intelligent Auto Mode with conventional Mega O.I.S which suppresses hand-shaking, and its Intelligent ISO Control prevents motion blur. New Intelligent Scene Selector Function chooses the appropriate scene mode by automatically selecting the most frequently used setting from modes Portrait, Scenery, Macro, Night Portrait and Night Scenery. New Face Detection System automatically detects human faces to set the focus of potential shots and insure the best possible exposure. Unwanted red-eye effects caused by the flash can now be digitally corrected, and newly added Intelligent Exposure Function controls ISO sensitivity to partially increase the exposure of darkened areas in shot, allowing users to capture scenes suppressing extreme brightness or darkness in images.

5 out of 5 stars Miniature Marvel   May 13, 2008

I have to give this camera 5 stars because for my purposes it is perfect. Panasonic are one of the few manufacturers that make wide angle compacts...I can count on one hand the number of cameras currently available that go wider than 28mm, and to find one as tiny as this is amazing....the only other that I can think of is the Ricoh GX100, which is bigger and more expensive.

The lens is excellent...it is sharp, the lack of distortion at wide angle is impressive, there is no real purple fringing and the vignetting is also minimal (darkening at the edges that occours with most lenses)...amazing really

I only really use this camera in good light and the results are excellent...some say the sensor is noisy in low light (grainy images)...but in the conditions that I use this camera I have had nothing but great results, with great punchy colours (using the VIVID setting) and loads of detail...but I am a wide angle shooter, and that is where this tiny little gem is at its best
The size of this camera is just amazing, its smaller than a pack of cards...good battery life...great menus...auto everything if you want it, with an intellegent auto mode...or a mode that allows control over ISO, exposure EV, colour saturation, white balance, and loads of other stuff, I think the menus are brilliant...I am now a Panasonic fan, I had previously overlooked this manufacturer

Build is lovely....so for a tiny high resolution wide angle camera, how can I give it less than 5 stars ?...there is very little else available that compares....brilliant

This is a great little camera...i've had my FX35 for a few weeks now and have thoroughly enjoyed taking photo's with it! The 25mm wide angle lens is brilliant...when im out with a bunch of my girls and we want a group photo its so easy to fit us all in and no-one gets chopped off the sides! The IA mode makes taking great quality photo's really easy...and its nice and compact which means it fits it my handbag perfectly!!
Highly recommended!!

3 out of 5 stars Great pics and movie but terrible audio on movie   March 24, 2008

Only get this cam if you want to take good pics with good widescreen shooting and a good x4 optical zoom. Movie mode quality is best yet for a compact but audio is very very poor that this makes this camera worthless if you want to take movies...go with an ixus 960/970 or 85/90is.
