bargain internet buy October 30, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
ilooked around for a good easy to work camara for the wife to use on a day trip, this was the one she wanted as it felt good to hold and easy to work with its easy auto settings. comes with a sholder strap and also you get a lens cap, plus normal energizer non rechargable batterys but i would use 2500mah energizer aa rechargables or better as this camara drinks batterys for a living and takes 4 aa size ones. also comes with a well thought out user manual if you wish to set this up for better shots and settings. this feels well made and takes xd or standard sd or hc sd cards in the one slot. some might find it a bit on the big size but i like it as i alway manage to brake all my camaras zoom lens on the small compacts this as no pop out zoom lens just built in zoom on a big len so is perfect for me.
this s5800 take clear nice shots on auto settings. as a pop up flash that i thought was prity cool as i did not know this when i brought it from asda as there demo had no batterys in in the shop. amazons price is a bit cheaper than asda's but not by much just 10 less, but to be fair asda gave me 50 free photo printouts and a keyring to use in there print shop with there deal and i would could not chance item in the post and needed it that same day plus i like to look at my camaras before i buy, also with the asda deal it was covered by there no messing 1 year cover and 30 day change your mind deal. so if you want a good price amazon is the one with free delivery of 3 days, if you want it now and live near a asda store go and get one there with free photo prints and there money back warranty.
as you will see by other reviews a lot of people can't be wrong as it as a good feedback responce and i for one would recommend it anyday. 9/10 only because it needs four top spec rechargable batterys or a dc adapter as its power hungry.
get one, its a super bargain.

Decided to upgrade from my Kodak 3mp + 3x zoom before my holiday to Egypt.Glad I did - results have been stunning. Camera looks good , and is surprisingly easy to hold and use, even one-handed. Took a bit of time to go through the instructions, which are not difficult to pick up, although almost 1000 shots later, there are still options /facilities I have yet to explore. The large viewfinder is great,(although inclined to attract fingerprints),and the onscreen crop+copy lets me preview and select/reject shots easily, even with my fading eyesight. The picture quality is great, and the 8mps makes for great clarity even at high zoom. The zoom is easy to use and the anti shake setting ensures that even 10x zoom remains clear in moderate light conditions. I was totally enthusiastic until taking it to a wedding on a dull day at the weekend, when I really had to use the flash extensively for the first time. Although the camera can take quite reasonable pictures in low light without flash,I set it both to auto flash ,then forced flash to make sure I got clarity in key bride and groom shots. These proved erratic, with the camera "choosing" to take the shots without flash,at slower shutter speeds, with the results being a bit unclear and fuzzy. Luckily I had my Kodak in my pocket as backup, and the contrast between the 2 cameras in this situation was striking with the Kodak well on top in terms of clarity and colour tone. Think I'll need to go back to the manual to see what can be done. Nevertheless, I'm still delighted with the camera which gives great outdoor shots with stunning zoom facilities at almost SLR standards , for an extremely reasonable price (which has just dropped a further 20% since I got it.)
Excellent camera October 27, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had this camera for a few weeks now and brought it specifically because I wanted to step up a grade with my photography as I was expecting my first Grandchild. I have to say I have not been disappointed. The camera is extremely easy to use on auto but also has several more "professional" settings to suit various conditions - all easy to understand and use. Just take the time to read the easy to follow instruction booklet that comes with the camera and follow the automatic guides on the camera itself. The quality of the pictures is excellent in all the modes. Some of the portraits that I have taken and subsequently enlarged and printed on my home PC/printer actually look quite professional. I purchased card reader separately that makes it extremely easy to download, burn onto CD and print the pictures. I have also used the camera on video mode and the results were also excellent. I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to step up a level or two from taking snaps on a pocket digital camera. This camera is bigger than the average digi camera and won't fit in your pocket but the standard of the pictures makes it well worth the minor inconvenience of carrying this slighly larger camera about with youFujifilm FinePix S5800 Digital Camera - Black (8.0MP, 10x Optical Zoom).
very low shutter lag, good image quality, but some niggles September 3, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
First time in years I have owned a camera, took it out yesterday and managed to snap a couple of lightning strikes, which is nice.
A problem I found is the autofocus works most of the time, but if there's something wrong with the scene pointed at, probably not enough contrast like dark clouds waiting for lightning, it fails completely. It does have a manual focus, which I checked before buying, but that's so unusable, it's almost as if they deliberatly designed it so badly to stop you using it, and it's only available in a mode that forces you to choose either the aperture or shutter speed, or both, if you want manual focus then you're obviously a pro who doesn't want the auto mode.
An easier way to get it to focus properly is to prefocus on a scene that works at the same distance, then while keeping the button half pressed point at the target and then shoot.
Brilliant Camera August 21, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Received The Fugi S5800 Camera from Amazon and have been very impressed with it,was very pleased to see the owers manual was in English, and it also had a quick start sheet with just the basic instructions, the few photos I have taken so far have been of a lovely quality, this camera is ideal for those who like me wanted a better zoom than you get with the normal digital but did not want to get into a very expensive range,I have gone through the features and found them easy to follow, a super camera at a great price.
