1 out of 5 stars 2 years old and no longer works   April 4, 2008
I have looked after my camera but it has just packed up completely. Reading some of the other reviews it seems that it is not just bad luck but a problem with this model. Picture quality has been disappointing which I thought was me not the camera. Another gripe is that my previous sony had a trimming function and the p200 has not got this, I didnt check as I thought an upgrade would not have functions taken of it.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I expected from Sony   December 28, 2007

If you are after a point and click camera then do not buy this model - the auto mode has a mind of it's own and I would say that if I take 100 pictures, I end up deleting at least 50% because of blurring and incorrect flash function. I appreciate that these can probably be corrected by messing about with the manual functions but in reality who wants to be changing these settings when they are trying to snap general family pictures which is what I use mine for?

The camera is slim, well built and when the auto function gets it right, the pictures and colours are great, it's just a real shame that you have to reel off about eight shots of something just to be sure you've got a good one.

1 out of 5 stars 15 months old and has failed to operate   September 17, 2007

Having made enquiries at various camera outlets' I am informed that it would appear Sony has a problem with these cameras, mine in peticular will not operate when the power button is pressed. I am told it would be cheaper to by a new one than have it repaired and its only 15 months old. The new one will definitey not be a Sony

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Camera for the Price! If you are having issues you really need to take time to alter your settings to your needs!!   August 30, 2007

I bought this camera 2 years ago for the purpose of keeping in my bag on nights out, weddings and holidays etc.

This camera is amazing...It takes high quality pictures at all times.
I can take a photograph in a nightclub where I cannot even see anything on the screen and when I upload the photo onto my computer it is crystal clear as if taken in daylight!

I sat down with this camera, read the instructions (which most people seem to not bother with, hence the photographic issues) and adjusted my settings. There is a delay for focusing before taking the photograph but this has not bothered me....I have taken photographs whilst being at horse racing and have had crystal clear pictures of fast moving subjects!!

I have been lucky that I have not had any technical issues with it.

In conclusion you get what you pay for, this is not an expensive camera. It is a camera that will give you high quality pictures for fun events like nights out, holidays and scenic shots. It is perfect for your handbag and can be taken anywhere day or night to take a perfect shot!
It is a simple camera and has easy instructions to follow!

2 out of 5 stars Flash unreliable and over or under exposed   April 12, 2007
I bought this camera from Jacobs in Central London on 10 Sep 2005 for 269.99 pounds. A great camera with brilliant pictures until 6 months ago when the flash stopped working properly. Other people have reported the same problem. The flash fires either too early or too late resulting in an under exposed picture OR the flash "over fires" giving a completely over exposed shot which is 95% white picture. Sometimes a burning acrid smell too when this happens. As the 1 year warranty has expired the shop I bought it from can only send it away for repair and charge me for it. Very unsatisfactory for a quality camera that cost 270quid and is only 1.5 years old. It was very well looked after. Pictures without flash are still excellent, battery life great. Having bought two Sony laptops over the years both of which had manufacturing problems (fixed for free but then failed again) I'm no longer a fan of Sony products like I used to be.
